Paris: Day Two - Relaxing in the Village

It's been a nice relaxing day today, caught the train up to the Disney Village for a bit of shopping and lunch.

The transportation system here, right throughout Paris, is far superior to anything we have in the UK, and much cheaper. There's double decker trains too which look rather too Minority Report for their own good.

Had lunch in a Disney Restaurant, called The Rainforest which, predictably, was themed like a, yes, rainforest complete with tropical fish, animatronic elephants and crocodiles, and hourly thunderstorms. Feeling considerably 10-years-old right now.

Theme parks tomorrow! Woop.

Paris: Day One - Eiffel!

It's been a fun first day. Surprised my dad in the hotel which was nice! He was all packed ready for the airport, convinced he was flying home, not knowing we were taking him off to a second hotel for a few more days in Paris (He was flown out last Friday as a surprise from my mum, but he didn't know me and my brother, Matt, were flying out today - he thought he was flying home).

Headed straight out for brunch, then went to the Eiffel Tower. It was quite breathtaking. The views were fantastic and more than burned off brunch climbing those steps.

After a boat ride down the river, we headed to the new hotel courtesy of a taxi driver who took us to a road with same name as the one we wanted, but on the other side of Paris and then proceeded to attempt to convince us that the derelict building in front of us was in fact the hotel we had booked into.

Thankfully, we set him straight, and one dangerous taxi ride later, and we've arrived in this lush hotel, complete with lake, swimming pool, bar and restaurant. Just finishing off some work now (in the bar, of course) so I can have the next couple of days off.

Paris: Day One - Just Landed in Paris

It's my dad's 60th birthday this weekend. My mum surprised him last Friday with a trip to Paris to see the Rolling Stones in concert. He thinks he's flying home today but I'm in a taxi with my brother on the way to the hotel now to surprise him and tell him he's not. We're staying out here for a few days with my parents to see Paris. Got a bit of work to do first, but that's the beauty of laptops. Will get it all out the way today at the hotel, then take a couple of days off, see Paris and, yes, Disney.
